Winning the Timaru Cup in the time of 2.3 3-5, Rabble established a course record at the first day of the South Canterbury Jockey Club’s autumn meeting to-day. The record was previously held by Tarleton in the time of 2.4 4-5 and was made 14 years ago. In the last race, Nightcalm and Petersham dead-heated and broke Cranford’s course record by 1-5' of a second. The meeting was held in bright sunshine. The track was hard, and there was a moderate attendance. The totalisator handled £10,8261, as against £10,4301 last year, an increase of £396. Results:—
