CHURCH REPORT
TREATMENT OF CATHOLICS. (United Press Association—By Electric • Telegraph—Copyright). VIENNA, September 21. Negotiations between Cardinal Innitzey. Catholic . Primate of Austria, and the Nazi authorities have been broken down. A Catholic. Church statement has been issued which declares that new matrimonial laws which have been made, and also the confiscation of the Church’s property and the suppression of the Catholic schools prove that further negotiations with the Nazi authorities would at present be hopeless.
The Cardinal has issued a Pastoral Letter, which has been read in all of the Austrian churches. It points out that many Catholics have lost tlieir jobs because of tlieir faith.
