NATIONAL CANDIDATE AT KOITERANGI. What was stated by the chairman to be the largest political gathering over held in. the settlers’ hall at Ivoite--rangi, greeted Mr E. B. Taylor, the. National candidate when he addessed the electors inV his opening address there on Monday evening; Mr W. i Jamieson, County member for the riding, occupied the chair aud ; in a few well chosen remarks introduced the candidate, who, on rising to speak, was accorded a prolonged round of applause. Mr Taylor, who is a son of the late 'Mr T. E. Taylor, a highly respected and well known member of parliament for many years, is' an eloquent' speaker ’and in an interesting address extending over two hours, he criticised the Socialistic legislation of the Labour •Government, pointing out the financially unsound and'dangerous features or the social security plan as it is framed, and the dangers and pitfalls of socialism, which, ' apart from anything it : gives f robs us of our liberty. He outlined the policy of the National Party, touching on many clauses in it. He ■ stated that he stands for freedom'of the individual, private enterprise and social security for those who are in need of it. At the close of his address questions were ealled for by the chairman, but none were forthcoming, and a vote of'thanks was carried most enthusiastically on the motion of Mr 11. Monk, seconded by Mr M. Harcourt.
