WKSTI.ANI.) SOCIETY MEETS. The usual monthly meeting of the Executive of the Westland 1 Acclimatisation Societyw as held on Tuesday evening. Present : Messrs C. L. Har--per (President), E. Eade, W. Nimmo, D. J. Evans, A. E. Perry, J. N. Robinson, J. J. Mclntosh Senr., Dr Teichelmann and A. C. Armstrong (Secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs G. H. Chapman, J. Preston, K. K. Morris, G. Buchanan and F. Pierson.

Mr J. H. Mulvaney of Wataroa .wrote asking permission, to destroy Pukaki on his property because of daipago to crops. It was decided to. refer the matter to the Department of Internal Affairs for favourable consideration .

The Postal Department forwarded particulars of shooting licenses sold during the season.' The Secretary reported an increase of shooting licenses over, the preceding season. The North Canterbury Society in reply to a request for information regarding chuk'or forwarded an opinion from Mr A. A. Boon of Christchurch, who .stated that cliukor would, not live on/flat country but were only to be found at an altitude of 2000 to 5000 feet. They . favoured' shingly slopes «uch as to he found in the Rnkaia Gorge and will definitely not live in hush country. T.t was decided to s§nd a letter of thanks for the information.
