SCHOOL RADIOS
One ot the eldest and largest primaiy schools in Canterbury district— Sydenham—has installed a combined radio and loud-speaker apparatus*. ‘ It is in the headmaster’s office, and “the head - acts as announcer and station director. Relays of. educational broadcasts can be received in any of the rooms. Two speakers provide playtime music and chosen pupils, aie allowed to appear before,the microphone on special occasions. Perhaps it won’t bo long before schools have a radio class in their, curricula says an exchange.
Mr' Johnston, Rector of the Hokitika District High School; applied to the High School Board for a somewhat similar plant to be installed at Hokitika. Mr J. A. .Murdoch, Chairman of the (Board, after consulting the members of the Board, lias made, .formal application to the Hon. Minister of Education to purchase the plant and arrange for its installation here.
