CLAY TARGET CHAMPIONSHIP. (Per Press Association —Copyright). CHRISTCHURCH, August 9. Equalling the record established several years ago, 78 nominations were received for the twenty-eighth New Zealand clay target championship, the last of the series of matches in the Dominion championship which was held at J-eeston yesterday in fin© weather. A. fresh north-westerly breeze made the birds very difficult at times, *■ and the shooting on a whole was as good as on Saturday. It was a 21-bird match, and none of the competitors scored a possible. . The following 10 each with one down shot'off for the title:—E. Groome, H. Qua,rtermain, J. Malcolm, R. McDonald, F. L., Graham, W. Elliott, J. Donnelly, F. E. Cox, R. E. Farrow, u. P. Webber.

The shooting went to the eighteenth round before Webber (Morrinsville) won, Elliott missing his eighteenth bird and gaining the prize for runner-up. All the competitors with 20 on divided the sweep money amounting to £6O. There were 47 entries in a Yankee shoot of 10 birds. L. P. Hayes W. McBreen, A. E. Brightling, and J. R. Roy, possibles, divided £lB 16s.
