DECISIONS OF BOARD

Ihe business at a recent meeting of the Tobacco Board at Wellington ivas reviewed by the Minister for Industries and Commerce (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan) to-dav. He said that, recognising the value of research to the industry, the board had some time ago undertaken to make a grant of »d a pound to the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research in respect of leaf of the 1935-36 and 193637 seasons. The contribution for these two seasons would amount to between £1709 and £I3OO.
Recognising also the value of the continuity of a programme of research, the board decided to ask the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research tor an estimate of the amounts which the department would require from the board for research during the three seasons, 1937-38 193839, and 1939-40.
