In an effort to obtain sufficient money to meet mounting relief costs and the costs of recession “pump-prim-ing,” President Roosevelt has sent a message, to Congress, asking for a law ending the present exemption from income tax of all Government salaries and securities.

He pointed out that .men of great means were placing large fortunes in tax. exempt securities; thereby seriously menacing the fiscal systems of the States and the Federal.,Governments.
