ELECTRIC LOCO.
ARRIVAL PROM ENGLAND. TO USE IN WELLINGTON SERVICE. (Per Press Association —Copyright). AUCKLAND, February 10. Built for the Welling ton-Paekakariki main line service, the first stream-lined electric locomotive to he constructed in England, ' arrived at Auckland from Liverpool by the Federal Line "steamer Cambridge. Partly dismantled for shipping; the locomotive- is- carried in two cases as deck cargo, and it will be 'Unloaded at Wellington. The entire engine which was shipped from the Preston Works of English Electric Company, is capable cf drawing a 250-ton passenger train at 60 miles an hour, and a 500-ton goods train at 45 miles an hour. To the same design, seven more electric locomotives will he built in New Zealand for the same purpose, and two of a somewhat similar type for the Arthur’s Pass-Otira service.
