ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE. , (Per Press Association—Copyright). WELLINGTON, September 20. The annual conference of the New Zealand Journalists’ Association was < held in Wellington on Saturday, when delegates Were ‘present from Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Greymouth, Nelson, and Wellington. The President, 31 r G. Freeman, of Wellington, presided, and in his restated that Journalists’ Unions i had shown marked increases in membership. A notable 'feature of . the., year’s work had been the securing of a Dominion award. Air E. (’: Franklin (Auckland) has resigned from the editorship .of the “New Zealand Journalist” was awarded the gold badge‘of the Association in -appreciation of his services. Air Freeman was appointed editor. Air A. Hardcastle, of Wellington, was appointed president for the year, and Air L. Aloir (AVellington) vicepresident.
Tributes were paid to the work of the retiring president, who did not seek re-election. Next year’s conference will be held in Wellington.
