AIR SERVICE
PACIFIC SERVICE TO BEGIN THIS YEAR. (Per Press Association—Copyright). WELLINGTON, September 13. Any uncertainty which may have existed regarding the use of Auckland or of Wellington as the New Zealand terminal for the projected Pacific Af?' Service by the Pan American Airways has been set at rest by a decision which was reached in Wellington today by the Chairman of the Aucklaud Hatbour Board, Hon. T. Bloodworth, M.L.C., and Mr Harold Gatty, the New Zealand representative of the Pan American Airways.
The American Coy., has agreed to lease a proposed area of land at Mechanic’s Bay; from the Harbour Board, and the terminal will definitely he established at Auckland. Following on -the announcement of the agreement on this point, Mr Gatty said that a srart would be mado almost immediately on the construction of the base facilities. One, and possibly, two, further survey flights would be carried out over the route from Honolulu. Mr Gatty added that a commercial service would tie in operation before tlie end of the rear.
