HIGHWAYS report 'l’lic Engineer reported upon the progress of work on Secondary Highways during the month as follows:--KANJERI-KOITERAXGI m.h. County trucks were engaged for (> days delivering continuous stretches of river 'bed gravel to the extent ol 144 yards, and crushed metal, 26 yards. Local surfacemen cut back gorse arm blackberries overhanging the approaches to several bridges, cleaned out various drains and watertables and attended to general surface repairs. Four men are engaged on Ivokatahi Bridge repairs. Twenty-five transomes have been renewed, several braces and 6000 srtoer feet of docking. On receipt of authority an immediate start was made by four men on the second section of the protection works along the approach to Ivokatahi Bridge. UPPER KOKATAHI M.II. County trucks and emnloyees were engaged repairing a washout on the road immediatolv above the Kanieri ,Vn " Bridge. The washout was caused by a burst Borough water pipe. General surface repairs were also attended to throughout with local labour. FORKS-OKARTTO M.H. General surface repairs were car ried out by the roadman. The local county truck was engaged for < days patchmetalling throughout. A further 100 yards of beach gravel was delivered at dump on road reserve for future maintenance. The first section of plans and specifications 'for reconstruction and sealing of 128 chains of highway between Kokatahi Hall and J. Monk’s residence on the Kanicri-Koitorangi road have been forwarded to the Highways Representative for approval. The second section of proposals for. 60 chains ■through Kanieri townshio and a portion of Lake Kanieri highway, are well under way, and will Vie submitted for approval when completed.
