One was killed and two were, seriously injured at Aix-en-Provence in a street revolver battle between the police and a number of bandits. The •bandits broke into a distillery, • stealing spirits valued at two. hundred sterling. They were surprised by police, but the bandits fired a volley and then fled. In a running battle one bandit was shot dead, and two others were brought down. .. A fourth was captured, while the fifth of the gang escaped.
