MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. ; Tlio executive of the Hokitika Businessmens’ Association was held oil Wednesday evening, Mr W. H.-Stop-forth presiding. „ Inward Correspondence From Hokitika Borough Council, advising that Bevell, Hamilton, Weld, and 1 Sewell streets, were now beiiig cleaned regularly twice weekly.—Received.

From san'ie', advising that.it was the opinion of the Council that the town ’was! sufficiently lighted.—Received. * From Kokatahi Farmers Union advising they had supported the Association’s resolution regarding a new Post Office at Hokitika, and extending good wishes to the. Association.—Received. From W. Duncan and Co., advising that they were forwarding the Associations request to the agents. —Received.

Correspondence was tabled from Wellington Woollen Manufacturing Coy.\ stating : (a) that they had not tendered for the supply of fifty pair of blankets to Westland Hospital Board; (hi that in response to a request received from the -Secretary of the Hospital Board in March for prices of blankets, these were quoted with concession for lettering and that iri May when prices advanced, the Board were notified of amended prices and additional charge for lettering; (c) when Board were calling tenders from local retailers it was not the policy of the Coy. to compete and that the Board was advised they preferred not to tender ;. (d) that hospitals throughout New Zealand have the privilege of ordering direct.—Received.

Tt was pointed out that as the Coy. did not tender—the cost price acted hpon was not true comparison, as it did not include lettering, sales tax, arid landing charges. It was resolved to write to Railway Department asking that steps be taken to have Saturday morning Hokitika t<> Ross train leave Hokitika at 11.45 a.m. instead of 10.20 a.m. as at present.
