ANNUAL MEETING. (Per Press Association.—Copyright). DUNEDIN, July 7. At the annual meeting of the D.B.S.A. it was decided that the Dominion championship tournament at Dunedin, lie held on Monday, J amnio 10. The order of play was decided upon as follows: Singles, pairs and rinks, with the rinks having preference in post section play.

A recommendation of the executive “that the singles competition at the Annual Association Tournament be played under the automatic two-lite system throughout,” created some discussion, the motion being carried by 9 votes to 6. “That section play of’the pairs competition be confined to one day’s play, four games only to he played,” was recommended by the executive and car ried, and a further recommendation from the executive was carried that any player winning four -or five games, or tieing for a section with a lesser number, should take part in the post sectional play on the sudden Heath system.

Air Smith (Southland) stated that the required members of a pairs combinations to be members of the same club. The apparent aim of the provision was to avoid “pot hunting” but it inflicted hardships. The chairman said that notice of motion would be required to deal with the matter, and Mr Smith gave notice of motion as follows: “That discretionary power he given to the tournament executive to accept entiies for pairs from players who are not members of the same, dub.”

A motion was moved by Mr Hosk- : ng and seconded by Air Thompson, that the rinks play should he conduct ed as was the case last year. This ■vns that the' rink teams should be divided into sections and that at the conclusion of the section games, post section play should follow. AVhere eight games constituted section play, earns to qualify for post section play should'be—(a) any , team which won six or more games in its section; (b' my team which, though it won less than six games, was the winner of its section; (c) any team, though it won ess than six games tied as one of the .winners of its section. Unless clause or (c) applied, any team which lad been more fhhh twice defeated in ection play should not qualify for post section. If section play consisted of nine games for the section, then the qualification .clauses (.a), (b) and (c) given above would, ipso facto he increased to seven wins. Post section play would be on the automatic two life principle. Winners would play winners and losers play losers hut the tournament committee would have the power to play a winner against a loser if it considered such a course advisable. A. team losing two games .would not continue play. Three gameper day of 21 heads each (or three hours) would- be played. 4-,

Air Smith moved an amendment that lie. post section play in the rinks uc >n the one-life system this being secinded by Mr Currie. The amendment was defeated and he motion carried. ; The time limits for the annual tourlament games were fixed as the same s last year’s:—Singles, 21 heads, 1) hours; Pairs, 21 heads, 2£ hours links, two games each day, of 25 leads.

Entertainment expenses incurred luring the Annual Tournament of the Association were the subject of the re nit from Christchurch Centre, wine’ecommended that expenses be a di•eet charge on the Tournament funds >f the Association. The view was ixpressed by Air H. B. Oakey (Clirist•hiirch), that the expenses should be •urtailed though not so far as to rives of participants in the tourna nents were concerned.
