Large crowds witnessed the arrival of Their Majesties at Edinburgh’ Catn'edral, where the Queen was installed as the first woman member of the Knights of the Thistle. Hundreds of summer dresses and carl wheel f ats were ruined by a sudden deluge which spoiled the King s garden party at Holyrood House. Six thousand guests rushed for the shelter of trees, marquees, aiid indoors.
