ARTIFICIAL WOOL
A SUCCESS CLAIMED (United Press Association—By Electm Telegraph— Copyright). LONDON, June 8. What may turn out to be a serious rival of Australian wool was discovered by Mr Townsend, chiei investigation officer of the Customs Department, on a visit to Czechoslovakia. He inspected the Bata Shoe Company, the largest boot firm in the World where scientists explained the development of artificial wool and rubber and claimed that tlfb latter was more costly than natural rubber but had been proved equal in the necessary qualities and that it was definitely more durable. It was claimed that the artificial wool, which was manufactured under a different process from the German, had all the characteristics of .sheep’s wool, especially for w'armth and absorption of moisture and, when made into garments, for suitability for spinning and weaving.
