MR O’BRIEN’S GOOD SERVICES

APPRECIATION BY COUNCIL

The Westland County Cquncil yesterday received a letter from the Hokitika branch of the Labour Party, outlining the arrangements that had been made to organise a presentation to • Mr J. O’Brien in recognition of his good services to the district. ' ‘

Cr B. Ward said Mr O’Brien had given excellent services and expended considerable energy in his work in the interests of the district as a whole. He was doing the very best he could, and his work was appreciated by all, irrespective of political colour. He thought the Council should make some form of recognition by granting a donation'‘to the presentation fund.'

Cr W. A. Jamieson moved that the, Council grant the sum of £lO 10s. He agreed with Cr Ward that Mr O’Brien had done all he could to further the interests of this district, and was instrumental in bringing good results to

the district. . : Cr N. H. Brown, .said Mr O’Brien was most efficient. The, speaker seconded the motion which, was carried unanimhusly. \ The chairman (Cr J. J. McKay) and Cr Jamieson were appointed to represent the Council officially at the presentation.
