NEGRO DEFEATS RAY NICOL 'Per Press Association—Copyright) INVERCARGILL, June 10. A light-heavyweight boxing contest this evening, between ißoy de Gans (12.2), the American negro and Ray Nicol (12.6) was won by de Gans on points. There was a packed house De Gans won practically every round. O-er the second half of the contest, lie scored at will, and he punished Nicol hea\ily.
De Gans has been matched to fight Tiny Nichols (Australian heavyweight) at Invercargill on July 1. Nichols also meets Max Rosenbloom at the Sydney Stadium on June 1U and he leaves for New Zealand immediately afterwards.
