The question of Hughefe’ eligibility to sit .'in parliament, after having been a bankrupt then arose, and Kennerlly started court proceedings. Hughes' paid the money he owed and ithe Court discharged the sequestration order.' ' 1
When Kepnerlly persisted jyith h'is appeal Hughes resigned his seat, and the appeal was (discontinued. As a result of the new election on Saturday, Jie Labour Government npyy has a majority, Ipf one.
