Afajor Bracldey, Air Superintendent of Imperial Airways, and Air Hudson Dysh, manager of Quantas Ainvays, Queensland, took off this morning in a •flying boat for Australia, with the intention of surveying the route. They are stopping at several places in the Jlutcli East Indies before arriving at Darwin. T/hile they were in. Singapore, several conferences were he.d l)ut the utmost, secrecy was observed. The survey is, regarded locally as an indication that a final agreement lias been reached regarding-the method of operating the Singapore-Austivilialu link. ,

WELLINGTON, May 8

Hon. R. Semple stated to-day that, although an agreement had not been approved by Cabinet, he was able t say definitely that there was no serious hitch so far as New Zealand was concerned in regard to the Pun-Ameri-c:n Airways. The Company’s representative had discussed the old agreement . vyith ,him, taking exception ti certajn, parts, and^ this was the . Subject .oF a conference .between himself, Air Gatty and the Solicitor-General, anil'' the . objectionable from the Company’s point of view, had been removed. Unless there , were some unforeseen hitch at the other end, an agreement would be completed. Air Semple added that the New Zealand Government had cabled to tfie British Government for certain information, and it was now awaiting a reply' Tfie real delay on the Whole matter seemed to he due to the American company not having had a copy pf the- agreement before it was signed.
