BRITAIN .DECLINES PAYMENT

WASHINGTON, December 11

Britain to-day lias notified the United States that she would not meet her war debt payment due on December 15. Senator Hull (Secretary of State) in his notification of the sums due, had stated that the United States was ready to discuss any proposals which Britain might desire to make in regard to the payment of her iudebtliess. Sir Richard Lindsay (British Ambassador) in reply, stated that it did not anpear to His Majesty’s Government that ‘circumstances have so changed since their note of June 4, 1934, as to enable proposals to he put forward at the present time.” Sir Richard added that his Government “would be <dad to resume discussions wheneer the situation warrants in the hope that a satisfactory result might he readied.
