PROVIDENCE (Rhode Island) December 11
Admiral Byrd, in the course of a lecture here to-night., said : “The next step in the field of exploration should be ocean depths. We have solved the major problems in the Arctic and Antarctic, and scientists are not exploring the stratosphere.” “The exploration of the ocean depths would be for the purpose of learning about the continents that have disappeared. This' would necessitate scientific expeditions as elaborate as those with which we explored the mysteries of the Afetic and while for the next two or three years he would personally be busy recording the information gathered in the Antarctic, Admiral Byrd indicated that an ocean expedition in the future was a distinct .possibility.
