BY-LAWS BROKEN

BY HORSEWOMEN UNLADYLIKE LANGUAGE USED. , (Australian Press Association.) ,_• CHRISTCHURCH, August 2. Tlie behayious of some of the horsewomen who use Hagley Park was strong*, ly cruised at a meeting yesterday of the Christchurch Domains Board. It was alleged that some of them ■were breaking the by-laws laid down by the Board defining tracks on which they might ride, and that when they had been spoken to about these: breaches, they had become abusive nsing disgraceful language. One member said for some weeks efforts had been made to stop the riders from breaking iho by-laws, and many of the men on the staff had been trying to obtain the names of sonic of the women offenders, hut, they had been unsuccessful. Other rangers, who were not on the Board’s staff Had also tried, but without result. The women refused to give their names. That was enough. But to make things worse they were using abusive language. It was language, that would not be allowed to go into print. The Board would have to take some action, because the women would not at present take any notice of the bylaws. They sim>nly -galloped everywhere, and it was useless to remonstrate with' them.

The Board discussed whether .it should prohibit riding in the Park, and it was decided that, if anv more complaints were received, it would take this aetion, and allow oulv .those persons who were eiven permits, to use the Park for riding.
