EXTORTION CHARGE
U.S. KIDNAPPERS DEATH THREAT TO VICTIMS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph-*- Copyright,*. (Received this day at 10.30 n.m.i NEW YORK, July 12. Justice •agents announced the arrest of Alfred Wagner, aged 38, a family man, living on Government. He is charged with attempting to extort <160.000 dollars from kidnap victims, including the recent kidnapping ot George Weyerhaeuser and Mrs Berry Stoll. * He would communicate with families demanding large sums with the threat of death, although in no case had he anything to do with the actual crimes. In many instances, however, the victims took the communications seriuslv, and often deposited money in hiding place ß as directed by Wagner, tmt the agents watched the places, and tic never collected a single dollar of the large sums asked.
