A RARER A VALLEY BRANCH. Mrs 11. Bradley presided over the meeting of the Avahuva Valley Women s Institute, at the residence of Mrs Martin on Wednesday. Roll call took the form of “a conundrum,” and for next meeting it will be responded to by “my pet economy.” One new member was enrolled. The buttonhole competition resulted :—Mrs W r . Houston 1, Mrs Harcourt 2, Mcsdames J. Bradley and Hewlett 3. For next meeing it was decided to make some article from material costing It. It was decided that the Institute take a parcel of goods for disposal to augment the funds of the Canterbury Disabled Soldiers’ Fund.. A jumbled word competition was won by Mrs D. Houston, and Mrs R. Bradley guessed the contents of a. mystery parcel. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mcsdames Martin, and R. and J. Bradley who served a dainty afternoon tea.
