GENEROUS GIFT
TO RED CROSS SOCIETY. (Per Fros» Asrxdatoon. —Copyright.) WELLINGTON, July 11. At a meeting of the Dominion executive of the Red Cross Society, Mrs T. H. Lowry (Hawke’s Bay) made an offer of a gift of £IOO, explaining she desired it to be forwarded as a donation from tlie New. Zealand Red' Cross to the National Red Cross Societies in Paris.
She had two main reasons for making the gift. First, in recognition of the wonderful assistance given to New Zealand by the League at the time of the Hawke’s Bay earthquake • and second, as a gesture of international goodwill. She expressed the hope her example would be followed by others in the position to do so, by subscribing to the New Zealand Society’s funds, mentioning particularly tjie needs of a junior red cross movement as a means of promoting international peace, a children’s health camp, and help for crippled children.
