PROSPECTS BRIGHT
MEAT DEBATE SETTLEMENT. CONFIDENTIAL CABLES TO N.Z. (Per Press Association, Copyright). WELLINGTON, July 11. Prospects of a settlement of the meat negotiations ’are stated to be brighter, as the result of confidential cablegrams received by the Government from the Hon. J. G. Coates.
jjJ • Alexander Ransom stated he could' not disclose the information forwarded by Mr Coates, but the whole matter was considered to-day by Cabinet, the exec-utive, Commission of Agriculture and the Dairy Boalrd. He added a reply to Mr Coates’ cable would be forwarded later to-day. Until the New Zealand delegation considered this reply ti would not be possible to make public the nature of the possible agreement.
