•, United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received this day ( at 1.40 p.m.) LONDON, July 10. Th Lords accepted amendments to the India Bill to make the election of the Council of 'State direct instead of indirect.
Lord Zetland would be on high property qualification, and it would be necessary to lay down Hie proportions of the Council to be allotted to the different communities. The Sikhs had been allotted four seats, .and the Moslems forty-nine.
The Government had in mind an electorate four or five times greater than that at present allotted.
