MEAT PROPOSALS
ARGENTINE REPLY REFUSAL GENERALLY EXPECTED (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright;. (Received this day at 11.21 n.m.j LONDON, July JO. The Argentine’s reply to the British proposals of Ljd levy on chilled beef, with a farthing a pound levy on Dominion meat, is expected shortly.
A refusal is generally anticipated, which will mean the continuation of the Anglo-Dominion arrangements on a quarterly basis. The Dominions Office, nevertheless points out that tentative arrangements to continue the home beef subsidy do not necessarily imply no hope of agreement. as, even if this is reached without delay, it will stiil be necessary to preserve the subsidy for some time until revenue from the levy has reached at least the equivalent amount.
