MODIFICATTONS SUGGESTED (Per Press Association. Copyright). WELLINGTON, July 8. Possible modifications and improvements in the education system were mentioned to Wellington School Committees and the Educational Federation to-night, in an address by the Minister of Education (the Hon. S. GSmith).
He announced that he intended to consolidate the education legislation, also to give careful consideration to the question of the readmittance of the live-vear-olds to the primary schools by comparing the average roll number method with the average attendance basis.
He said he hoped that radio lessons to schools would he extended. The Minister defended the accrediting system for proficiency certificates, and the extension of intermediate schools.
