ENGLISH BANKS
BALANCE SHEETS ISSUED. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, July 5. Four out of five great banks, generally known as the “Big Five” have issued balance sheets in the last leudays. The dividends declared are at the same rate as the corresponding period last year. The statements show that deposits have been steadily rising, tlie turnover has been larger especially in recent weeks. The figures of the London Bankers’ Clearing House to date show an increase of £669,044,000, or 3.6 per cent, over the same period last year. Dividends of the chief discount houses are also at the same rate as last year.
