NOVEL INSURANCE
PROVIDING FOR FUTURE POOR (United Press Association—By ElectricTelegraph—Copyright). BOSTON, July 7. In. interesting plan for providing for the poor of the future has been revealed with the disclosure that Governor Curley, of Massachusetts, four years ago, took out an eleven thousand dollor a year insurance policy, which is now reposing a vault “for the relief of the needy poor of Boston.’’ The policy does not become effective, however, /until 125 years after the death of Governor Curley’s last surviving child. In the meanwhile, the policy will be accumulating in value, and it is expected to reach a value of 45,518,000 dollars .This will be sufficient to provide 2100 families with 20 dollars a week each.
Governor Curley declared that if two more of the citizens of Boston would take out similar policies, there would, eventually, he no poor in .Boston City, and no need for any welfare work.
