Miss Adelc and Miss Mary Bucklin with Mr Fred Page will give a trio recital on Friday evening in All Saints’ Hall. The Misses Bucklin, who are daughters cf the American Consul, received the greater part of their musical training in Paris, where they distinguished themselves in their studies. At present on a visit to New Zealand, they have given several splendid recitals with Mr Page, and the Musical Society is very fortunate in being able to secure their services. Mr Frcderich Page has been known for some years as an excellent pianist and music critic, Acting on the urgent advice of I)r. Percy Birch, and Sir Ralph Vaugham Williams, he leaves shortly for England, this being one of his last appearances. The programme to be given on Friday should please most. Apart from solo items there will he three trios, an early Beethoven, one by Armstrong Gibbs, and one by Novak. Armstrong Gibbs is an English composer now fairly familiar to modern audiences. His music is delightfully fresh and spontaneous and often humorous. The trio by Novak, a Czecho-Slovakian, is new to New Zealand and a first hearing is looked forward to with interest.
