The Karanja has landed at Southampton 944 survivors of the Quetta earthquake. The majority were womenfolk and children of soldiers and airman. All were provided with railway warrants to take them to their homes. Lord Zetland sent a message expressing the Government’s sympathy. This was conveyed by the mayor who said: is still England and won’t let you down.”
