PASSES THE COMMONS

LONDON, June 5
The Commons read a third time the, India Bill, defeating a Labour amendment for its rejection, on the ground that it did not gey far enough in thedirection of giving DoVninion status, by 386 tq 1,22. T t Ve BUI was the biggest ever known in the British Parliament. It originally contained 451 clauses mid sixteen schedules.
Commenting on the passage of the India Bill through the House of Cotn•'‘mons, the “Times” says: Not a measure in the history of the British Parlament lias undergone a more careful preparation and examination. The Government can be congratulated upon its readiness to accept all reasonable amendments. The House of Commons may well be proud of its’ achievement.
