IRISH ALIEN BILL

INTRODUCTION IN THE DAIL

DUBLIN, Feb. 7

The Aliens’ Bill being introduced in the Hail repeals the Irish application of the British Aliens Restriction Ad.-

When did lie become an Irish citizen?” asked Doctor Gogarly, during the report stage of the Irish Citizenship Bill- Dr Gog,art.v declared that nothing in the Bill could prevent, “Europe's riff-raH'" entering the Free State and becoming citizens.

Mr dc Valera, replying, said that persons not provided for in the Bill would ha,vc lo prove the right to become Free .State citizens. The report stage was passed and the filial stage was aujuurnrd sine die. The Citizenship Bill, which is being delayed by the Senate, will operate simultaneously with the Aliens’ Bill.—

The Aliens’ Bill defines an alien as a person not a citizen of the Free State. Aliens are allowed inheritance rights ,but are not allowed to own oortan property. Aliens will owe local allegiance. The Minister of Justice Will control the landing aFd employment of aliens. The Government is empowered to exempt citizens whose countries correspondingly exempt Free State citizens.
