WELLINGTON, December 10. Air R. Cobbe, the manager of Chateau Tongariro, in a telephone message, said that the weather there overcast, and it; is raining heavily. Nothing has been seen of Alt Ngaruhoe.for about five hours, but when the volcano was last seen, its smoke was still rising to a tremendous height. • * ~v, ’ The smoke has now cjianged from black columns to white '•columns, "this showing that the fire is near 'the top. QUEENSTOWN, December 9. Queenstown experienced several short, but sharp, earthauake shck s at ' 8.50 a.m. to-day. Buildings rattled - and shook alarmingly for a moment but the motion ceased as suddenly as it began.
