Speaking at Die luncheon after the launching of the Orion, Sir Herbeit Lawrence, chairman of Vickers Ltd., said, while the proposed England-Aus-tralia air service was an important factor. For special purposes, great ships would be required for many years. He announced the owners and builders had cabled the Duke of Gloucester at Brisbane, expressing gratitude to him for launching the ship, destined to serve interests in Britain and Australia.
