CHURCH DISPUTE
BISHOP IN CHARGE OF PARISH VICAR MAINTAINS ATTITUDE (Per Press Association—'Copyright). CAMBRIDGE, May 3. Following a meeting of parishioners of St. Androw’s Church on Tuesday night when Bishop Cherrington temporarily took charge of the parisli living,, which previously was declared vacant, the doors of the church were found locked yesterday, this following the. vicar’s (the Rev. G. Bell) refusal to. hand over the keys. The Bishop’s warden (Mr C. W. Boyce), and newly-elected church officers visited the church yesterday, and removed the locks, and opened the church doors under the Bishop’s instruction.
Lust evening a wedding was held in the church, the police being in attendance.
Mr Bell maintains his. attitude to stay on i n the parish. The bishop has already advertised the services for next Sunday".
