CRISIS AT RENO
FAILURE OF BANKS MANY DIVORCEES STRANDED. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received this day at 9.30 a.m.) ■SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 20. Hundreds of divorcee*) are stranded at, Rono owing to the failure of twelve Wingfield banks, which handled eighty per cent, of Nevada’s business.
George Wingfield himself, the famous frontiersman and all his stock holders, aiie wiped out. Only seven hundred thousand dollar's cash remains of sixteen million deposits in these banks. It is estimated that four million dollars were deposited by visitors from all parts of the United States establishing residence qualification to become disunited in the Reno “divorce mill,” which was brought to a standstill by the financial crisis.
