WANTED TO FIGHT CONSTABLE.

AUCKLAND, February 16.

Early this morning a constable encountered Benjamin Thompson aged 39, a polisher, in Hobson Street. Thompson was standing on the footpath singing and when warned to go home, lie took off his coat and wanted to fight the constable. He was arrested on a charge of being disorderly while drunk and he appeared at the Police Court this morning. “This is his 48th appearance and a prohibition order would not do him any harm,” remarked Detective Sergeant Kelly. Thompson was fined Cl, or three days’ imprisonment, and was also prohibited.
