The death occurred at Avonsicte, Chivisthurch, on Sunday, of Mr John Edmond Hood, aged 67 rears. Mr S. Hood, of Greymouth, is a son of deceased.

The Reefton district- excursion, after a threatening early morning were favoured with a fine day for their outing. Before their train arrived in Hokitika the sun had come out and the weather improved to a perfect afternoon- The train left on the return journey at 5.30 p.m the holiday makers appearing well satisfied with their outing.

A Humber -five-sea ter touring car driven by -Mr E. J. Robb, of Cob den, had the wind-screen and the- forepart damaged, in Maekay street, Greymouth. at the railway station, last evening-about seven o’clock, when it collided with -the re-ar of one of Rugg’s delivery lorries driven by Mr A. Fielding. The accident happened when the lorry was being backed towards the riverside railway station.

The death took place -at the Grey Hospital on Tuesday night, of Mrs -Isabel Anderson Dunlop, at the age 01 86 years. A native of Glasgow, -Scotland, the deceased came to New Zealand about 25 years -ago. She- had resided at Dobson until about two years ago, when she entered (the Old -People’s Home. Her husband predeceased her thirtyyears ago. The deceased is survived by one daughter in Scottand.

At about 10 o'clock on Monday -night, at Stillwater, a gold watch, the property of Stanley Gray, was stolen fro-m his bedroom at the Junction Hotel. The theft was reported to Constable Rogers, who recovered the watch at 9 o’clock yesterday morning, and arrested Thomas Theodore Edward Farrell, 36, a stranger to the district. Farrell was brought to Greymouth. and, before Mr A. Naylor. J.P., was charged with stealing the watch, which is valued at £lO. A remand was applied for, and was granted, to February 25. a® other charges are pending. Bail was fixed at self £2O. and one surety of £2O, or two of £lO.

Asked if a water-race, concerning which the case arose, could he annexed to the town water supply, witness said, that if such were done, it would “pretty soon poison the people.’’

The wedding was solemnised at St. Patrick’s Church, Greymouth, yesterday afternoon, of Nellie, third daughter ot ; Mr and Airs G. Alorrish, Preston Road, to Robert William, eldest son of Mr and Airs H. Leach, Preston Road. Rev. Father Gregory performed the ceremony. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was attired in an ankle-length frock of light buscuit celane.se with hat and shoes to tone, and she carried a shower bouquet. Miss Lily Alorrish attended her sister as bridesmaid, and wore an ankle-length frock of silk with hat and soes to match. The duties ot host man were carried out- by Mr Thomas Leach, brother of ihe bridegroom. After the ceremony the reception was held at the residence of the bride’s parents, where Mrs iMovrish received the guests.
