The biggest crowds nl children air clustering round two other new inventions. One is a model telephone kiosk which lights up when the daylight fades or when a hand is placed over a window in the root. It is fitted " ith a seleu in in cell (the active principal behind tile “‘talkies'’ and picture transmission) which (urns on a switch when it is deprived of light. ’Phone boxes of the future may. if the experiment is pol into practice, light, up automatically as i| gets dark. The other is a new lire alarm. It registers its own number and position at, (lie lire brigade’s headquarters when the handle is pulled. It also rings a loud hell when it is touched in the vital spot to attract the attention of passers l>v, and so discourage small boys who amuse themselves b.v giving false alarms.
