LORD AND LADY BLEDISLOE. INTEREST IN WORK OF THE SALVATION ARMY. / (Bv Telegraph—Press Association) WELLIN'G TO N, August 8. Their Excellencies Lord and Lady Bledisloe visited some of the institutes of the Salvation Army to-day, and when at tlie “Eventide” Home at Island Bay, her Excellency met an old lady compatriot. She was Mrs Jean Upton, ninety-five years of age, who was horn in Pembrokeshire and arrived in New Zealand in 1863. Although the time at their disposal 4 only permitted of visiting and inspecting headquarters in Cuba Street, the hostel in Boulcott Street and tlie Old Ladies’ Home at Island Bay, their Excellencies were surprised at the extent of the work of the Salvation Army in the Dominion, upon which they had already been considerably informed by Commissioner and Mrs J. Cunningham. AN INQUEST. CHRISTCHURCH, August 11. The adjourned inquest iiito the death of Thomas Bedford Harrison (commonly known in New Zealand as Thomas Gordon Lennox) who was found dead in bed at the Railway Hotel ,on July 28th, concluded to-day. After .hearing the evidence of Dr Thomson, who had made a post morfum examination, the Coroner, Mr E. D- Mosley, found that death was due to heart failure following pneumonia. George Thorngate Weston, solicitor, gave evidence that, under the instructions of a Wellington firm of solicitors he had been looking after the deceased’s affairs. Fie had no doubt that deceased, who had been known as Thomas Gordon Lennox, was in fact named Thomas Redford Harrison. MISSING LAUNCH LOCATED. AUCKLAND, August 11.
