The setting of . type by telegraph, in a series of distant newspaper offices by the operation of a machine in a central office, has been accomplished during the prist month on--news-papers served by the news wire of Westchester County. This is the first practical teletype setter. It eliminates the telegraph operator and handling in receiving at the newsppaer offic-e, by sub-editors and compositors. It sets type automatically. The item may be cut or edited to a limited degree at the receiving end, but if the maximum speed is desired, the message may not be intercepted.
