Great concern is expressed in Wellington at the increases in valuation and rates on sports grounds. It was generally thought the Act of 1925 had fixed values at nominal prices. The, Valuer-General, however, holds that the reduction is only to the extent lie chooses to fix, and lie puts it at onc--11u!f the ordinary selling price, with a continual increase in valuation. This is held to be useless, and sports bodies are frightened at the increase in rates caused by the' new’valuations. The only wav out at present is to appeal and demand that the fixed value be settled at once and for all. so long as the ground is not used for profit.
