RECORD HAMMER THROW

DUNEDIN, Feb. 16. At the Tokomairiro Sports meeting on Saturday, J. G. Leckie, the- present bolder of the Otago record in throwing the hammer, beat his previous record by 3ft., throwing the hammer 151 feet 6 indie's. This constitutes the greatest throw registered by a New Zealander, although it does not equal the New Zealand record of 169 feet, which is held by an American named Merchant.'

At the final: day of the State Athletic Championships at Manly, in the 220yds raye, J. Carlton was the winner in 2) 4-osees., which equals the record.
The 440yds hurdles was won by F, W. O’Brien in 57 1-5 secs., which is a new record.
The women’s 220yds was won by Miss C. Dabm in 26 1-lOth secs., a record.
MELBOURNE, Feb. 16
At the Victorian Athletic championship meeting, D. McLnrdy won • the one hunched and twenty yards hurdles championship, time being losec., which is an Australia and Victorian record, ihe hundred yards championship was won by J. Lane, in lOsec., the four Hundred and forty yards championship by A. Elliston in 50 7-10 sec,; the mile championship by W, M. Whyte, in 4.27 see.
