THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES.
REFORM’S TIMIDITY. , Another point that was raised 'by Mr • Stewart concerns the whole policy of sub-division of lands in its relation to the quality of the wcol-production of \ iU, Jie Dominion. It is, Mr Stewart ob- f , served, an imperative necessity to the ty; l smaller farmers that they shall be . able to improve the standard of their . flocks and the grade of their wool, and this they do by drawing for their annual supplies on the larger properties, the owners of which only can afford to breed the higher-grade flocks. It is a point which merits consideration but has rarely received it. The scheme for the bursting-up of estates, more? ,7; over, as expressed in the' Government’s proposals, may be productive, j , a greater amount of sub-division than is necessary in the economic interest , , j of the Dominion. _ . „ , n ~„V , I'-**. —Otago* j Daily ' Times.
