The transmission of pictures by wireless from Sydney to London was accomplished for the first time yesterday, according to wireless information picked up here. The condition that in future it will be compulsory for dance halls in the city to close at 11.30 p.m. on Saturdays was decided upon by the City Council last night. This will be incorporated in the licenses for halls, when they come up for renewal. A MOTION DEFEATED. CHIUSTCHURCH, October 1. By eight votes to six the City Council decided last night not to join in the Municipal Association’s insurance scheme.
